Dr. Mark

I started inline skating as a mid-life challenge! Instructor Mark was excellent, supportive, patient and challenging as appropriate. I'm a GP and find skating a really good, non-impact, aerobic and co-ordination developing exercise. As an added bonus skaters generally are a friendly bunch and the various group skates are great fun and not too difficult after a few lesson.

I took the one day beginners to intermediate class with Mark and Matthew. It was a small class with two instructors and great value with Mark teaching and Matthew demonstrating. I would recommend it to anyone really wanting to get started with street skating. Everyone learned a lot and improved and we covered all the important stuff. It was safe, fun and very well taught.

I have been skating on and off for approximately two years, having been on skate courses and had lessons with numerous instructors but no one was able to alleviate the fear, dread and panic I would feel when coming against obstacles such as stepping on and off pavements, going up and down hills, different surfaces, speed skating and most of all pedestrians!

Instantly Mark put me at ease, I conveyed my fears to him and he worked the lesson around me. In the first fifteen minutes of my lesson, Mark had given me the confidence and taught me the safe technique of stepping on and off pavements. I was actually doing it with no panic or fear, throughout the lesson Mark gave lots of encouragement while being patient and very understanding. I skated away very motivated and extremely happy with the lesson I had and booked some more. Just this week, I completed a street skating lesson with him where I faced all my demons of varied surfaces, steps, road junctions and pedestrians with ease, confidence and most importantly safety.

The lessons are fun and are broken down into simple steps so that new challenges are not daunting and are approached safely, Mark is exceptionally experienced and is passionate about his subject which is depicted by his enthusiasm when teaching.

I still have a lot to learn but this time the fear and panic has been replaced by the enthusiasm to skate and learn more. Thank you Mark.

I started skating in April 2004, and was unsure if it was something I wanted to continue. I had received lessons from various skate Instructors in London and was frustrated with my lack of skate progress. I had decided to give up learning to skate altogether, when a friend recommended Mark Davies. I was pleasantly surprised at the progress I had made, after just one lesson. I was really impressed with Mark's patience and his teaching skills. His explanations and demonstrations of techniques were incredibly simple and it was quite evident that he had a desire for his students to learn. His friendly and fun attitude made every lesson exciting. His 'homework' approach made me concentrate on my skate technique all the time. Mark gave me the confidence to complete my first skate marathon just four and a half months after strapping on my first pair of skates. As my technique improved, so did my marathon times. Mark's a wonderful guy and a fantastic Instructor; he has helped to improve not only my skating but also my confidence and determination.

I took up rollerblading to improve my fitness level and to use it as a method of transport. Mark is an excellent instructor and one of his strength is his ability to breakdown complex tasks into small, manageable, easy steps as well as making the lesson enjoyable.

I had a great day. Mark is very motivating and he makes you feel like you want to fly on your rollerblades.

Hard work and no time to think. Better than meditation. I want to learn more and drop London transport.
