Get your skates on and have an amazing start to your day!



Summer is here so now's the time to ditch the packed tube, late buses, congestion charges and traffic jams, get your skates on and skate to work.




This is a great way to meet new people, have lots of fun and discover one of the best ways to get around any city. You will feel good and the exercise will do you good. It may do you so much good you may even live a little longer!

You're happy skating around the park, doing a bit of stopping and turning but now it's time to get out on the street for the real stuff.

Maybe you're also be interested in taking part in one or all of the three brilliant, organized London Street Skates that take place throughout the summer.

Well we are running an amazing course which covers all the skills you need to use your skates as transport, get you fit and enjoy the journey.

This is a three hour course that's spilt into two parts, the first part takes place in the park and covers the skate skills you need and then it's out onto the streets for part two.

Content:

  • Getting on and off pavements.
  • Parallel turns.
  • Dealing with rough ground.
  • How to get over man hole covers.
  • Navigating braille crossings.
  • Grass stops.
  • S.L.A.P. What it means and how it effect you.
  • How to skate in traffic.
  • How to skate with pedestrians.
  • Dealing with hill and going up and down them safely
  • How to react quickly.

What skills will you need?

You'll need to be able to stop with a heel brake and do at least A-Frame turns in both directions. We will be covering parallel turns on the course.

If you're not sure if your skill level is up to scratch yet don't worry. Just come along to the Sunday Skate Club and Mark will be more than happy to assess your skill level. Sunday Skate Club is also a great place to practice your skating with other people at the same level as you and only costs a fiver.

Date and time:

  • The first half of the course is in the park on Wednesday 19th May 2010 from 6.30pm to 8pm
  • The second part part of the course is the street skating section on Sunday 23rd May 2010 from 12pm to 1.30pm

Cost: £45 per person for the whole course.

Location: The Royal Albert Memorial.

As with all our lessons and courses your safety is our primary concern so you will need to make sure that you have knee pads, elbow pads, wrist pads and a helmet (see our safety policy). If you don't have any of these you can buy or hire them from The Club Blue Room skate shop at Marble Arch.
