History of ICP

Inline Certification Programme Logo The International Inline Skating Association was formed in 1991 as a non-profit organization to advance inline skating as a recreational activity, competitive sport and prosperous industry. Through the support of major inline manufacturers, retailers and thousands of inline skaters, the IISA developed safety and educational programs, worked to protect and expand access to public skateways, sponsored inline educational programs such as the Inline Certification Program and National Skate Patrol, and sanctioned events and competition.

Safety Policy

It is the policy of skateinstructor.com to comply with health and safety legislation and do all that is reasonably practicable to prevent injury, ill health and damage to property and to protect everyone from foreseeable risks.

skateinstructor.com readily acknowledges that the well being of those who may be affected by its activities is of essential importance.

skateinstructor.com recognises that the effective prevention of accidents depends as much on a committed attitude of mind to safety as on appropriate methods of instruction and the use of appropriate equipment. To this end it will seek to encourage participation in establishing and observing safe practices by all those affected by its activities.

It should be acknowledged that maintaining appropriate safety standards is of necessity, which requires the co-operation of those involved in its activities.

Our Instructors

Instructor MarkMark
London

Mark is one of only three level 3 ICP master inline skate instructors currently in the UK and one of a very small elite group of only ten in the world. He has a vast amount of teaching experience and has had the privilege of teaching thousands of people to skate over the years, many of them are now some of UK's top skaters and instructors.

Mark is also the UK ICP administrator and boasts that he can teach anyone to take their first backward skating steps in less than sixty seconds and if you don't believe him, he would be more than happy to take a little bet with you for charity!

Although Mark specializes in getting beginners skating quickly and safely he has also had the privilege, as one of only two instructor examiners in the UK to train some of the UK's other leading in-line skate instructors.

ICP/IISA
The ICP (Inline Certification Programme) is a global standard for inline skating instructors. Divided into three levels of qualification, this certification guarantees you a high quality of teaching. All of our instructors are qualified, with Mark being one of the three level 3 instructors in the UK. If you are thinking of lessons we highly recommend ourselves (obviously!) but encourage you to only use ICP qualified skate schools
Club Blue Room
Club Blue Room is one of London's largest skate retailers. With a wide range of skates, both inline and quad, and helpful staff you would do well to visit their Marble Arch store on Edgware Road to get your first pair of skates.

Testimonials

My husband and I decided to attended one of Mark’s group beginner sessions earlier this year. We were so impressed with his teaching skill and professionalism that we decided to embark upon private lessons. Within just a few sessions we we’re confidently up and about, and now a couple of months on are now whizzing around Hyde Park and just about to embark on our first Wednesday Skate.

We never would have thought we could do some of the things that we now can... but with Mark's years of experience, skill, patience and reassuring approach it seems anything is possible.

Mark is a fun and honest guy, and ensures that we’re safe at all times. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for a skate lesson! Whether you want to learn the basics or take your skating to the next level, I believe Mark will be able to help you and highly recommend his services.

With the credit crunch upon us and the cost of public transport rising, it’s not surprising that people are looking for alternative ways of saving money. An environmentally-friendly method of transport that is completely free helps you get fit into the bargain may sound too good to be true, but it exists in the form of a pair of inline skates, more commonly known as good old rollerblades!
