History of ICP

Inline Certification Programme Logo The International Inline Skating Association was formed in 1991 as a non-profit organization to advance inline skating as a recreational activity, competitive sport and prosperous industry. Through the support of major inline manufacturers, retailers and thousands of inline skaters, the IISA developed safety and educational programs, worked to protect and expand access to public skateways, sponsored inline educational programs such as the Inline Certification Program and National Skate Patrol, and sanctioned events and competition.

skateinstructor.com readily acknowledges that the well being of those who may be affected by its activities is of essential importance.

skateinstructor.com recognises that the effective prevention of accidents depends as much on a committed attitude of mind to safety as on appropriate methods of instruction and the use of appropriate equipment. It should be acknowledged that maintaining appropriate safety standards is of necessity, which requires the co-operation of those involved in its activities.

Our Instructors

Instructor MarkMark
London

Mark is one of only three level 3 ICP master inline skate instructors currently in the UK and one of a very small elite group of only ten in the word. He has a vast amount of teaching experience and has had the privilege of teaching thousands of people to skate over the years, many of them are now some of UK's top skaters and instructors.

Mark is also the UK ICP administrator and boasts that he can teach anyone to take their first backward skating steps in less than sixty seconds and if you don't believe him, he would be more than happy to take a little bet with you for charity!

Although Mark specializes in getting beginners skating quickly and safely he has also had the privilege, as one of only two instructor examiners in the UK to train some of the UK's other leading in-line skate instructors.

ICP/IISA
The ICP (Inline Certification Programme) is a global standard for inline skating instructors. Divided into three levels of qualification, this certification guarantees you a high quality of teaching. All of our instructors are qualified, with Mark being one of the three level 3 instructors in the UK. If you are thinking of lessons we highly recommend ourselves (obviously!) but encourage you to only use ICP qualified skate schools
Club Blue Room
Club Blue Room is one of London's largest skate retailers. With a wide range of skates, both inline and quad, and helpful staff you would do well to visit their Marble Arch store on Edgware Road to get your first pair of skates.

Testimonials

I never dreamt that after 3 lessons with Mark that I would be able to take to the streets and not wipe out completely! My first attempt at rollerblading involved hiring skates from the Club Blue Room Skate Shop at Marble Arch, rushing to the park, sitting on the grass to get kitted out -discovering that I could not get up.and asking a random passing man if he minded picking me up. He obliged, and I promptly fell over - took the blades off and went home

Lessons have made the world of difference. I have been on an absolute high since the skate!!!

!! Thanks!!!! Cindy

Ps. From a medical point- Yay for skating! = Good cardiovascular fun out doors that works up a sweat, kills your glutes, and makes you happy for the rest of the week -it's got to be good!!!!

With the credit crunch upon us and the cost of public transport rising, it’s not surprising that people are looking for alternative ways of saving money. An environmentally-friendly method of transport that is completely free helps you get fit into the bargain may sound too good to be true, but it exists in the form of a pair of inline skates, more commonly known as good old rollerblades!
